Custom Converting Cores / Film Cores

A converting core is a strong paper core around which a product is wrapped, like tape. These cores are usually manufactured in long lengths and then cut down into smaller sizes for individual use once they have been wound with a product by the customer. Because converting cores hold a product, and because they need to be precisely cut without bending, it?s important that they are strong. At Western Container, we manufacture tightly wound converting cores in a wide range of sizes that can be used in many different applications without damaging the product.

Western Container Corporation continues to drive costs down while combining top notch equipment with people in their custom film core and converting core lines. Western will introduce their new SPCO Evolution multi-knife winding line in 2014 which introduces single step cutting process with accurate lengths for those converting applications where tight tolerances are a must.

Our converting and film cores’ are constructed from paper ply’s of various thicknesses to achieve your required dimensional tolerances and crush rating. Each core is designed with your application in mind while maintaining your required flat crush value. Western offers film cores and converting cores from 0.5” to 24” in diameter, with regular Kraft liner material. Outer surfaces may be glazed Kraft or printed with 1 color and up to 4 color off-line printing. Cores may be .192” to 636” long and may have wall thicknesses ranging from .036” to .750”. Depending on dimensions, tolerances may be as precise as ± .010” or ± .025” depending on diameter/wall thickness and internal dimension.

Compression and flat crush tests, as well as automated quality tracking systems ensure that output is of the highest quality and strength. Orders may be small or large volume, with lead times averaging between 2 and 5 days. Make use of what we have to offer today, and choose Western Container for converting and film cores.
